Measuring Guide

How to Measure

A simple guide for measuring custom drapes, shades, blinds, and hardware with confidence.

For inside mount blinds and shades, please provide the exact inside frame size. SOVA will make the necessary deductions.
1

Drapes & Sheers

  • Measure the full width you want your curtains to cover.
  • For a more elevated look, extend 8–12 inches beyond the window frame on each side.
  • For height, measure from the hanging point to your desired finished length.

Choose your preferred fullness at checkout, such as 2× or 2.5×.

Pricing is calculated automatically based on your selected fullness and finished curtain size.

Final fullness may vary slightly depending on fabric panel usage.

Blinds & Shades

This guide applies to roller shades, zebra blinds, sheer shades, Roman shades, cellular shades, and similar products.

Measure each window separately and always confirm whether you are ordering an inside or outside mount before recording your final dimensions.

  • Use the narrowest width.

  • SOVA will make the necessary deductions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I deduct anything for inside mount?

No. SOVA will make the necessary deductions. Please provide the exact inside frame measurements as they are.

Will SOVA deduct for outside mount?

No. For outside mount orders, provide the exact finished size you want. No deductions will be made.

What if my window is not perfectly square?

Measure at multiple points and use the narrowest width and tallest height for inside mount orders.

How do I confirm inside or outside mount?

Inside mount fits within the frame. Outside mount extends beyond the frame and offers greater coverage.

Can wall-to-wall curtains be ceiling mounted or wall mounted?

Yes. Both options are available. Ceiling mount creates a floor-to-ceiling look, while wall mount offers flexibility in positioning.

What should I do if I’m unsure about my measurements?

Contact us with rough measurements and a photo of your window. Our team can help guide you before you place your order.

How do you calculate fullness?

Fullness is the ratio of fabric width to finished curtain width. For example, 2× fullness uses fabric equal to twice the finished width.

Custom products are made to order. Please review all measurements carefully before placing your order.
